The Threat Landscape
Medical campuses must protect physical assets—such as narcotics lockers, intensive care units, and restricted trauma centers—while defending millions of digital Electronic Health Records (EHR) from aggressive ransomware syndicates. A physical breach of a pharmaceutical space or a digital freeze of life-support telemetry networks represents an immediate crisis.
The Emerald City IT Blueprint
Drawing directly from Cory Hofstad’s specialized experience securing University of Washington Hospitals, we design a multi-tiered security perimeter. Our technicians pull dedicated, shielded Category 6A (Cat6A) copper cabling to a dense matrix of 4K IP cameras. These are mounted using overlapping fields of view to ensure zero blind spots across patient check-ins, restricted corridors, and drug distribution hubs.
To eliminate digital vulnerability, these cameras feed back to localized, encrypted Network Video Recorders (NVRs) via a completely isolated Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN 10 - Physical Security). This video traffic is completely invisible to the hospital's primary administrative network, preventing a compromised laptop in a billing office from granting a hacker access to live camera feeds.
The campus gateway is protected by a high-throughput WatchGuard Firewall cluster deployed via Revolutionary Technology standards. This cluster runs active packet inspection to block incoming network intrusions and isolate sensitive medical databases. Every medical workstation, server, and telemetry receiver is fortified with ESET Endpoint Protection, actively scanning for zero-day malware variants.
Our Ballard-based network operations center manages this infrastructure 24/7/365 using secure TeamViewer nodes. If a server shows anomalous data movement or an access-control card reader fails at an emergency exit, our engineers instantly log in remotely to diagnose, isolate, and patch the vector, maintaining absolute compliance and safety.
